Family-Led ABA Therapy
Therapy That Extends Beyond the Session
At Hickory Learning Group, we believe the goal of ABA therapy isn't simply to provide services—it's to help children develop meaningful skills that improve everyday life while empowering the people who support them every day.
Our comprehensive ABA program combines direct therapy provided by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) with intensive caregiver coaching, parent training, and real-world practice across home and community environments.
Rather than asking, "How many hours of therapy does a child need?" we ask, "How can every hour of therapy create lasting change throughout the entire week?"
Because children don't live in therapy—they live with their families.
What Makes Our Model Different?
Many ABA programs focus primarily on the hours a therapist spends with a child.
Our model focuses on multiplying the impact of those hours by helping parents and caregivers confidently use the same strategies during everyday routines.
This means therapy doesn't stop when the session ends. Learning continues during breakfast, getting dressed, playing with siblings, grocery shopping, bedtime routines, family outings, and every meaningful moment in between.
When families become confident teachers, children have thousands of additional learning opportunities every week.
Your Clinical Team
Every family is supported by a collaborative team of professionals who work together to create meaningful progress.
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Your BCBA serves as your clinical leader and coach.
They conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, analyze progress, train therapists, collaborate with schools and healthcare providers, and provide ongoing coaching to caregivers.
Your BCBA continually evaluates treatment to ensure goals remain meaningful, effective, and aligned with your family's priorities.
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Your RBT works directly with your child to teach new skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and create opportunities for success through play, daily routines, and meaningful interactions.
Every session is guided by your child's individualized treatment plan and supervised by your BCBA.
Our RBTs are more than therapists—they are coaches who help demonstrate strategies that caregivers can confidently use outside of therapy.
Parent Coaching Is Therapy
Parents are not observers.
They are active members of the treatment team.
Throughout services, your BCBA provides individualized coaching designed to help caregivers understand behavior, teach new skills, respond confidently to challenging situations, and support their child's learning during everyday routines.
Parent coaching may include:
Understanding why behavior occurs
Teaching communication skills
Managing challenging behaviors
Using positive reinforcement effectively
Building independence
Creating successful routines
Supporting community participation
Preparing for school and social situations
As your confidence grows, so does your child's opportunity to practice these skills throughout the week.
Learning Happens Where Life Happens
Children learn best when they can practice skills in the environments where they naturally live, play, and interact.
Depending on your child's goals, therapy may occur in a variety of settings, including:
Home
Developing communication, self-help skills, daily routines, play, mealtime skills, toileting, sibling interactions, and family participation.
Community
Practicing social skills, safety awareness, communication, shopping, recreation, restaurants, parks, libraries, and other meaningful community experiences.
School Collaboration
When appropriate, our team collaborates with educators and other professionals to support consistency across environments and promote successful participation in the classroom.
By teaching skills where they will actually be used, children are more likely to maintain and generalize what they learn.
Measuring Progress
Every child is unique, and every treatment plan is individualized.
Our team continuously measures progress through ongoing data collection, clinical observation, caregiver feedback, and regular treatment reviews.
In addition to monitoring your child's progress, we also measure caregiver confidence and competence because we believe lasting success depends on the entire family's ability to support learning beyond therapy sessions.
This helps ensure treatment remains meaningful, effective, and focused on the outcomes that matter most to your family.
Our Goal Is Independence
The purpose of ABA therapy is not to create lifelong services.
It is to help children and families build the skills needed to thrive independently.
As children demonstrate consistent progress and caregivers become increasingly confident implementing strategies across daily routines, services are gradually adjusted to encourage greater independence while maintaining continued success.
Graduation from ABA is not the end of support—it is a celebration of growth, confidence, and the meaningful progress your family has achieved together.
Is This Program Right for Your Family?
Our Family-Led ABA Therapy program is designed for children who benefit from individualized behavioral support while families are ready to play an active role in the learning process.
Together, we'll build practical skills, meaningful routines, and lasting confidence—helping your child succeed not only during therapy sessions, but throughout everyday life.
